Chris was raised in Clearwater and graduated from Florida State University in Tallahassee.
He served on the Select Committees on Reapportionment and Growth Management in the Florida House of Representative and as an Aide in the Florida Senate.
He moved to Hernando County and worked in the Planning Department at the Southwest Florida Water Management District and spent 9 years with the Hernando County Utilities Department. He would frequently boat and fish at Crystal River, Ozello and at his friends house on Lake Henderson.
He worked for D.R. Horton and Parkview Homes as a Land Development Manager after leaving the Hernando County. He then went to work as a Utility Manager for Lykes Bros., Inc. on their 350,000-acre ranch in Glades and Highlands Counties. He was an intergovernmental liaison with state, regional and local government staff and elected officials.
A move to Fort Myers was next as the General Manager for the Gateway Services Community Development District. Gateway is a mixed-use development covering 4,000 acres with 4,400 residential units, two high schools and a large commercial sector. The major accomplishments were rebuilding the water and wastewater utility operation and the stormwater management system. The CDD also accepted the infrastructure serving 1,500 residential units built by Lennar.
Chris is a Certified District Manager by the Florida Association of Special Districts and named the FASD Manager of the Year in 2019.
After five years in Gateway, he moved to a similar position with the Sun N’ Lake Improvement District in Sebring. Out of date utility and stormwater infrastructure and significant growth were the major issues facing that community. Chris secured $561,000 in American Rescue Funds and increased the utility connection and service fees to properly fund the utility operations. Hurricanes Irma and Ian provided him with an opportunity to gain significant emergency operations experience in Fort Myers and Sebring with response and recovery efforts.
Chris is looking forward to working for the City of Inverness and getting involved with the local community.
